The grub from these companies will not only save you time, but your health as well. I have used them for the last 2 weeks and been very impressed so far with the variety and quality of the ingredients etc. I have tried three out of the many you have listed. Although I am not fussy with food and I like trying out new dishes and new styles of cooking, after enrolling in a meal programme, I realised that I do crave for the type of food I have grown up eating — Indian food!
Thanks Ishita, good to know. I am surprised to read that there is such a big choice of healthy deliveries. As I am not a meat lover, healthy food deliveries are such a good idea for those who are busy and do not like to cook.
Personally though, I rather prepare my own food with natural fresh healthy ingredients. Healthy eating is a way of life for me!!! I too was surprised with the multitude of options here Kelly. What a useful list!
Thanks for this list — i am trying the cookabox recipe option as a tester to see if it is feasible for our lifestyle.. I am not a fussy eater but the wife has limitations in her palate. Picking the right option is necessary. I ordered an oriental box and what a delight… took longer than it said on the box, but then I am no professional..
I could put it together quite easily and the flavors were good!! I will try livefreshr. I was surprised to find it here as I know from my days living in New York. I still need to try Just Salad — always here great things about it. Do check us out. Thanks for a great line up. Also love the restaurants they have! Best quality food, Serious about the results and great service oh and one of the cheapest too!
Daintree is ok but too expensive and had problems with the service. Kcal Extra is indeed a good one. But, the list should definitely have Wagamama which has 3 branches including one at palm. And we have office delivered multiple times, always hot and fresh. Also, their health drinks of raspberry and avocado are awesome for someone on diet. Would love to be included in your list the next time round. Do check us out from here http: Loved reading your article. So even if I decided to opt into Plated for the one meal a week that is low-carb friendly, it might be sold out.
And back I am at the grocery store, defeating the purpose. They also only list calories, not carbs as their nutrition facts, and some of the below options list the complete card of facts. I also think Plated has better packaging and insulation. The meals were all good though. You get two choices: Unfortunately none of the options this week were low carb.
In the following week, they had zucchini noodle lasagna, but even that recipe had 40 carbs. But what I love is that they offer a full-fledged nutrition fact card which is important to us low-carbers when making decisions about our meals. When I ran through the tool, I ended up with three almost perfectly keto dishes I could order. And three almost perfect keto dishes is better than 0 keto dishes. And the week following there were two. Gobble is still limited delivery like most of the new dinner kit startups, but I had high hopes for this one.
And I love to cook, but the minute meals sounded intriguing! Unfortunately, no low-carb options were available while I was reviewing. Just the regular filler sides: Blue Apron used to be a bit of a dictatorship.
On to the next one. Marley Spoon is another fresh startup in the dinner kit world. And gosh their items sure do look tasty, but again, nothing low-carb friendly. They did have some grilled lamb chops and green beans which looked amazing, but we all know how big lamb chops are, and the main side was a giant corn of cob. Peach Dish had a few options. The chicken fundita looked pretty good, and low carb. What I LOVE is that they do breakfast too, so you could order ingredients for a sweet pepper frittata too, or add a couple breasts of chicken or steak to your order if you want to make a bigger meal or just so you can skip grocery shopping — yay!
Munchery is only available in New York, San Francisco and Seattle, but the first thing that caught my eye was the whole-roasted lemon and herb chicken. But dammit, this was the only low carb dish I found.
But you have a better selection. And nutrition facts are available. When I first looked at Green Chef, I was like, oh here we go again with the rice and and the pasta… but then I scrolled down further and saw they have Keto meals, three per week. And not full of quinoa, either!
In this week I looked at, they had tuna steak au poivre , stuffed poblano peppers with guacamole , and chicken ratatouille. And they offer nutrition facts. Regardless of location, here are my top picks:. Do you have anything to add? Hughes has been developing ketogenic and paleo recipes for over a decade. They have entir ePaleo menu with no starches so extremely low carb. Thanks Paul, the Paleo menu does look very ketogenic friendly! I first saw the diabetic menu which was fairly high carb with potatoes and rice, but the Paleo menu is very good for anyone on Keto.
Thank you for this article! I want to try a service to change the recipes we have at home, but my husband and I eat very differently.
I love that Green Chef is organic, and they deliver to my town. I wish there were more options for delivery a la carte. I have done the same exercise since switching to Paleo, but Blue Apron was my first love.
Then we found HomeChef. And like you said they have breakfast and smoothies and fruit! I recommend you try these HomeChef again!
Thank you for your reviews saving me quite some time. I have been using Gobble and their meals are truly delicious.
